Ark Valley Helping Hands, a program that supports older adults in aging safely and independently at home, has transitioned its operations from Chaffee County Public Health to the Central Colorado Area Agency on Aging, located at 6266 Cleora Road, Salida, CO 81201.
The change comes as aging-related programs face increasing funding challenges at the county, state and federal levels. Officials say the move is intended to ensure the long-term sustainability of the program while maintaining the services local residents rely on. C
haffee County Public Health Director Andrea Carlstrom said in a press release that the decision was made with the program’s future in mind and asking Tom McConaghy, Director of CCAAA to take responsibility for this much needed program.  It is a perfect fit as the CCAAA already serves the older adults in many of the same ways of AVHH.  For more information, contact Sabrina Porter at 719-539-3341 or [email protected] Monday through Thursdays 8am-4:30pm office hours or leave a voicemail.

“Given current funding realities, this transition represents a thoughtful and responsible decision to safeguard the program’s future with an organization dedicated to serving older adults”.
