Is membership required?
Yes, but it is free! You're just required to meet with the staff and sign a waiver.

What areas does AVHH serve?
We serve all of Chaffee County.
Is there a membership fee?
We no longer require a membership fees!
How many members does AVHH have?
As of April 2026, we have 200 members.
Who provides the services?
Vetted volunteers provide ongoing services. Vetted volunteers and volunteers from the general public provide service for Seasonal Service events (one service Saturday each season) and individual requests as needed.
How many volunteers does AVHH have?
As of April 2026, we have 186 volunteers.
What services does AVHH provide on an ongoing basis?
- Some transportation to appointments/grocery store --- and often refer members to Central Colorado Area Agency on Aging (CCAAA) or Mountain Valley Transit
- Grocery shopping or errands.
- Light, occasional housecleaning
- Snow shoveling program (preorganized each fall prior to each snow season).
- Simple handy services.
- Friendly visits or walks.
- Care calls, including birthday calls.
What seasonal services does AVHH provide?
- Snow Removal.
- Produce Distribution.
- Seasonal Service days (Spring, Summer, Fall) --- yard clean up and windows. Space is limited
What services are not provided?
Keep in mind that Ark Valley Helping Hands is here to help, but we do have some limitations.
- We do not provide routine services, such as regular housecleaning or ongoing yardwork.
- Landscaping is outside our wheelhouse.
- We do not provide electrical work, plumbing or construction labor. If experiencing an electrical or plumbing issue that needs attention or immediate attention, please contact a licensed electrician or plumber. We are not licensed to handle these types of issues.
- Although we can help with packing a few boxes or loading a truck, we are not professional movers.
- We refer to the CCAAA for resources and assistance in all areas.
