April Obholz Bergeler, Executive Director
April is a Colorado native and has lived in Salida since 2017. She has a seasoned history of working in program management and marketing for nonprofits, including the American Lung Association and InnovAge, a national organization that helps older adults stay independent. Prior to AVHH, April worked as the census coordinator for the Chaffee County Board of Commissioners. She has also worked as a reporter for The Mountain Mail and in the marketing department at the Salida hospital. April loves to mountain bike, hike and camp with her husband, Brian, and their friends.

Mason started his career in local government, spending three years with the Town of Fairplay, Colorado, before joining AVHH. He has a passion for making a positive impact on the lives of others and supporting his community. In his free time, you can catch Mason with his nose in a book, out on a trail, or finishing his master's thesis.

Molly Bischoff, Co-chair

Molly is the Senior Resource Coordinator for Chaffee County. She earned a Master of Health Services Administration with a concentration on long-term care from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. Molly has spent most of her career utilizing her license as a nursing home administrator and has managed many assisted living, skilled nursing facilities and continuing care retirement communities. Molly spends much of her time enjoying all that Chaffee County has to offer along with her husband and their three energetic kids.
Dr. Tom Syzek, Co-chair

Tom is a retired emergency physician who has lived in Chaffee County for five years with his spouse, Mary. He has a BS in Biology from Georgetown University and attended Ohio State University for his MD. He has served as a volunteer and board member of AVHH for over two years, and is passionate about meeting the needs of older adults in our community. Two of his kids and two of his grandkids also live in Chaffee County, and he enjoys getting outdoors whenever possible.
Valerie Martinez, Treasurer

Valerie moved to Colorado in 2013 and loves working and living in beautiful Chaffee County. She, her husband and their three children spend quality time camping, fishing and skiing. Her banking, accounting and current real estate experience as a broker associate with First Colorado Land Office are key assets for the AVHH Board.
Ben Eichel, Secretary

Ben works in the recreation department at the Town of Buena Vista. In a previous life, Ben served in the Army with a few overseas tours as a logistics officer. After leaving the military, he began serving with both local and nationwide nonprofits as a volunteer, staff member and board member. Ben has a BS in Behavioral Sciences and Leadership from the United States Military Academy and a master's in nonprofit management from Regis University. On the weekends, you can probably find Ben jeeping to a remote campsite in the mountains with his dog Nitro.
Dee Dubin, Member

Dee is interested and engaged in how older adults stay actively involved in their community. She helped found Ark Valley Helping Hands as a way to connect neighbors. Her previous careers were in construction management and film production. Dee has lived in Salida since 2012. She and her husband, Rob, selected Salida for rural mountain living with its great access to hiking, biking, skiing and river running. They are pleased to be a part of Salida's caring and generous community.

Andrea is the director of Chaffee County Public Health. She earned her undergraduate degrees in psychology and sociology and her MBA in Healthcare Management and has spent her career mostly in healthcare administration. Currently, she also is a board member for Sage Generation and Solvista Health. When she is not serving her community, Andrea enjoys running, hiking, camping, traveling, reading, and spending time with her husband, dog and friends.
